Hack-A-Day 2023

Welcome to hEr VOLUTION’s Hack-A-Day, a 24 hour virtual event for girls and gender non-conforming youth 13 to 20 years from Ontario who are interested in STEM.

This event will be held virtually on Thursday, August 31, 2023 from 9:00 AM to  9 PM – Please arrive in the virtual room at least 10 minutes before to prepare and not miss anything 🙂

Participants will take part in separate workshops where they will learn the basics of coding languages and more! A task will proceed each workshop, and the winners of each task will receive prizes.

This is a FREE event, however registration is required!

Virtual STEMing UP Day

Join us on May 15, 2020, at 2 PM for a virtual STEMing UP Session with hEr VOLUTION and Shopify.

Come and meet some of the past students, mentors from Shopify and learn more what to expect from this year’s program.

Who is this for: Girls 13 to 17 years old who are interested in a career in technology.

The #STEM Summer Programs for Underserved Youth crowdfunding campaign has launched!

Here we are! This year we decided to dabble into crowdfunding campaign again to help us support our efforts in bringing FREE STEM education to over 150 young minds this year.  We can’t do it alone, we need your help!

As you already know, hEr VOLUTION has assisted about 3000 young bright minds since our incorporation back in 2013. We delivered workshops, camps, and seminars from Scarborough to Milton. We facilitated over 10 camps (March Break and Summer Camps) so far and we were able to serve over 300 young minds so far in these programs alone.  

This year we want to do more. Typically we can only serve about 30 – 50 young people through our programs per year and there is a demand for more, however, we need funds to be able to do this. As you know, we aim high and we push the boundary for more each year. Our goal is to include 150 young minds in our STEM Summer Programs this year. We know that more than 25% of participants who attend our programs will come from underserved communities. We also know that we want to make it affordable for everyone and all of our participants will be accepted in the programs through a subsidized spot.    More

How are you breaking barriers for women in STEM this Giving Tuesday?

First, for the ones who are new to the concept, let’s start by discussing what Giving Tuesday is:

GivingTuesday is a global movement for giving and volunteering, taking place each year after Black Friday. The “Opening day of the giving season,” it’s a time when charities, companies, and individuals join together and rally for favourite causes. In the same way that retailers take part in Black Friday, the giving community comes together for GivingTuesday.

GivingTuesday harnesses the potential of social media and the generosity of people around the world to bring about real change in their communities; it provides a platform for them to encourage the donation of time, resources and talents to address local challenges. It also brings together the collective power of a unique blend of partners – nonprofits, civic organizations, businesses and corporations, as well as families and individuals – to encourage and amplify small acts of kindness. Why we need to continue to break barriers in the 21st Century

During our 2nd Annual Sold Out Canadian Women in STEM Conference, we brought together elite speakers from all walks of life who shared stories and strategies for breaking barriers and including women in STEM.

The attendees could not stop talking about how much they are enjoying the conference and how excited they are to be there. It is always so great to see that because of the support of our community, many students were able to take part in this yearly event. Like last year, we were able to include 40% of students attendants at the conference while some were speakers. It is imperative to have everyone at the table if we want to create change for the better.

When organizing events such as these, we always wonder if they are actually making an impact. Sometimes it is very hard to know unless people talk about it. Gladly, in our case, we had one student who was given a ticket to the conference in a contest she wan, express how she felt after the conference and because of it:
