hEr VOLUTION presents: “#Impact2020 Actioning Your Career Vision” online webinar

For immediate release

Toronto – March 23, 2020 – The global pandemic due to COVID-19 is disrupting how we deliver educational materials for students, particularly young women who are looking to start their careers in STEM. To alleviate that, hEr VOLUTION is hosting a special online webinar on Monday, March 30, 2020, at 1:00 and 6:00 p.m. called #Impact2020: Actioning Your Career Vision. This webinar is dedicated to supporting high school and post-secondary young women looking to start their journey in the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) industries.

hEr VOLUTION was scheduled to host their fist #Impact2020 STEM Career Fair for Girls, however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, strategic measures were taken and the career fair was canceled as consideration of the health and safety of its community members, including students, volunteers, and community partners.

This #Impact2020: Actioning Your Career Vision event was made possible by the support of NEM Ontario, an organization supporting post-secondary students and professionals at all stages in their career to navigate increasingly rapid changes within engineering and technology.

“We understand that these are trying times for everyone, and this is why we are happy to have partnered with NEM Ontario and Shannon M. Pole Solutions to deliver alternative career support hosted online. We do this to continue to support girls, despite today’s uncertainties” says, Doina Oncel, Founder/CEO of hEr VOLUTION

Special guest, Shannon M. Pole, Head of International Training Institute of NLP & Hypnosis, will be leading the webinar. Combining her engineering background with her career coaching expertise, participants will learn how to focus on their career vision, reach for opportunities, obtain their goals and achieve success in their STEM career.

Date: Monday, March 23, 2020
Time: 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.

#Impact2020 STEM Career Fair for Girls postponed; Career Fair Preparation Webinar to be hosted instead

In light of the developing health concerns around COVID-19 (coronavirus), we have had to make the hard decision and postpone the #Impact2020 STEM Career Fair for Girls for the time being.

The health and safety of our community, partners, volunteers, and attendees is our main priority and although this decision was a hard one to make, we found it that it is the best decision to follow through at this time considering that the virus was classified as a pandemic.

We would like to thank all of our supporters, Scotiabank Digital Factory, Matrix 360, General Motors Canada, NEM Ontario and Shannon M Pole for the support with this so far and we look forward to re-group and plan this fair or an event like it, once the safety of our community will not be a concern.

On the bright side of things, we are still going to continue with the Career Fair Preparation webinar with Shannon M. Pole. We are hopeful that this too shall pass and the learning must go on as such, we will be facilitating the webinar to help prepare you for your career in STEM as it is our mandate to support you in your career journey.

We are grateful to Shannon M. Pole Solutions for facilitating this webinar and to NEM Ontario for continuing to support us in making this hard choice.

Celebrate your success in competitive professional landscapes despite self-doubt #NEM2020

I am here to tell you a story that talks about the limitations that we create around our pursuit of professional success and the importance of understanding what we are doing to celebrate our accomplishments.

The story is about myself: I was born and raised in Venezuela, a beautiful country that is, unfortunately, facing a very difficult political, social and economic crisis, but that is a topic to cover on another occasion. I just wanted to make you aware that I am indeed an immigrant in case you find grammar spellings, know that I am doing my best.

My life there was simple. I was a regular girl who loved daydreaming. My dad used to tell me that I was always distracted imagining things that may never happen and that I needed to concentrate more if I wanted to achieve big goals. Despite what it was perceived as lack of attention I managed to become one of the top students at the end of my senior year in high school, to the point of being selected to give the speech on our graduation day. I remember not understanding why I had been chosen. Out of at least 5 top female students, WHY ME?. That was the first time that I met my Inner Critic More
