Let’s keep going with the #Unselfie!

We’d like to say a heartfelt THANK YOU to you for encouraging others to support us on this journey. We can’t wait to see your #unselfie online.

Did you get to post your #Unselfie yet? No worries if you didn’t, we know these things may be intimidating for so many reasons and we are here to help. We can share your support on your behalf. All you have to do is send us your #Unselfie photo with the message you’d like to share and we will share it on our social media channels on your behalf with a special thank you message. And, if you are sharing this on someone else’s behalf, be sure to let us know so we can tag them on social media and let them know in turn.

Thank you to everyone that donated, shared and supported us so far. Let’s keep the momentum going and please continue to donate, share your #Unselfie and support us unconditionally.

Thank you again!

Let the #Unselfie 2021 season begin

GivingTuesday is a global day of giving. After the sales of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, GivingTuesday is a time to celebrate and encourage activities that support charities and nonprofits. Whether it’s making a donation, volunteering time, helping a neighbour or spreading the word, GivingTuesday is a movement for everyone who wants to give something back. #GivingTuesdayCA is the Canadian version of #GivingTuesday.

How is hEr VOLUTION engaging you on #GivingTuesday this year?

For 4 weeks before GivingTuesday, starting on November 1, 2021, we encourage our supporters to help raise funds, but mostly raise awareness about the cause they care about, in this case, hEr VOLUTION. Here is how it works:

  • Step 1: Download & Print the #Unselfie poster
  • Step 2: Write down why you support hEr VOLUTION
  • Step 3: Take a picture holding the poster (hint: get a friend to take a picture of you holding the poster)
  • Step 4: Post the picture on social media (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc) telling the world why you support hEr VOLUTION using the #Unselfie & #GivingTuesdayCA hashtags and tag us at @her_volution
  • Step 5: Tell your friends about this campaign and ask them to support your cause with you!

That’s it! We can’t wait to see your social media activity!

And That’s a Wrap!

And that’s a wrap on 2021’s

Phase 1 of STEMing UP
and
GO!stem 2021

Check out the amazing highlights from both our programs this summer!

STEMing UP Phase 1

We are very happy to announce that Phase 1 of the STEMing UP had been nothing short of amazing.  We have had a total of 10 teams work towards solutions for 5 challenges that support a total of 3 businesses.

Program participants have learned about Business Planning and Start Up, Branding and Marketing, UX Design, AI, Quantum Computing and Dev Degree Program.

“My expectations were not just met but highly exceeded. The timings, the coaches, the trainers, the peers and the classmates were always on top of their games and whenever I had felt lost they were all willing to help me.”

We are looking forward to Phase 2 when the participants will come together to complete their projects and to share that with you.

GO!stem 2021

Although we changed the GO!stem Program this year we were happily surprised to see the positive outcome and support form industry professionals. Check out the GO!stem Playbook that recaps the amazing adventures and learnings from the program below:

Meet one of our amazing partners for GO!stem & STEMing UP Demo Day!

Our GO!stem Program has been a success so far. The theme for this year was Exploring Careers in STEM. We were honoured to have speakers from various STEM industries, such as Cybersecurity, Mining, Planetary Science, Engineering, Technology, and Mathematics.

Today is the last day of the program for this year and we are very excited to end the program with Women in IT panel hosted by our partners at Capgemini.

About our amazing partners at Capgeminin
participating in the GO!stem program:

Capgemini is a global leader in consulting, digital transformation, technology and engineering services. The Group is at the forefront of innovation to address the entire breadth of clients’ opportunities in the evolving world of cloud, digital and platforms. The Group believes that digital transformation should benefit all of humanity.

Capgemini intends to be a benchmark in terms of its contribution to society, not just for its own activities but for those of its customers too, fighting exclusion and acting to promote diversity, ensuring equal opportunities and the preservation of natural resources. The very heart of the Group’s purpose is to build an inclusive and sustainable future for all, enabled by technology, drawing on the energy of its talents and also the talents of its customers and partners.

Phase 1 for our STEMing UP Program is also coming to an end. We are very excited for the work that our students have done so far with the help of their coaches and coding instructors. Today we are also hosting STEMing UP’s Demo Day and soon we will be sharing our student’s pitches on our YouTube channel. Please follow below to be notified of all updates.

Meet Sabrina Dias, One of Our GO!stem Guest Speakers!

Why our amazing guest speaker at
SOOP Strategies
chose to participate in the GO!stem program:

Sabrina Dias
Founder and CEO, SOOP Strategies

“When I started out, I don’t recall seeing other women of colour in mining doing science and engineering-based jobs, and so I had to work hard at picturing my future self as a leader in this industry. If I can help young women of colour see their future selves in me, then that first obstacle is moved out of the way. The GO!stem programme gives girls early mentorship – before selecting their high school electives and university paths, which is an important factor to increasing women in mining and other STEM industries.”

GO!stem could be the program for you!

GO!stem Virtual Summer Program is a five day program that enables 13 to 17 years old girls with the opportunity to explore a variety of STEM careers and skill sets in a new and exciting way. The program will take place online and it will be available to girls 13 – 17 years old that reside in Ontario.

This year, the focus of the program is to explore various STEM careers and paths. Attendees will have a chance to hear from industry professionals and learn about a day in their life. There will be interactive activities for providing guidance and developing skill sets.

This program aims to inspire all participants by sharing knowledge on the various STEM opportunities available to them, helping to guide them on their future paths.
