Why are young women less inclined to pursue careers in STEM fields? How can we better support and encourage girls and young women in STEM? Why is it so important that we do so?

These are just a few of the questions that will be discussed at the Canadian Women in STEM Conference.

The #CanWomenSTEM150 conference will feature an open discussion, among women who work in STEM and young women who aspire to do so, to find the answers and come up with working solutions.

Men can come too! We appreciate the support that we receive from men, and men are welcome to attend the Canadian Women in STEM Conference.

Diversity in STEM fields benefits everyone. Having the best, most qualified, most knowledgeable, most creative, most dedicated people working in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math fields, regardless of gender or background, benefits everyone and will help Canada advance and lead in these fields. Men have a role to play in ensuring that valuable resources are not overlooked due to their gender. And it is important for girls and young women to see men — teachers, community leaders, family members, colleagues, fellow students — respecting and supporting women in STEM.

Men who are interested in being role models and supporting diversity and inclusion in STEM are encouraged to attend the Canadian Women in STEM Conference on October 14. We would love to see you there, and you will hear some interesting talks and discussions that will inspire everyone.
