  • A safe virtual space for BIPOC girls and gender non-conforming youth to learn computer science, interpersonal and decision-making skills
  • Project-based assignments to help you develop and produce a portfolio of work.
  • Network with and be mentored by AMAZING people – educators, industry professionals, and employers
  • Information surrounding and application process to the Shopify’s Dev Degree Program
  • A peer-support network that will build confidence, teamwork, and learning momentum.

Participants MUST have an interest in STEM, considering further studies and/or a career path in a STEM-related field.

In order to fully benefit from this program, participants MUST attend all virtual classes and work in collaboration with their team.

WHEN

PHASE 1: Summer Session

  • Theory and solution based team work  
  • July 25 – August 19, 2022
  • Monday – Friday

PHASE 2: Speaker Series/Technical Interview Preparation

  • 6-8 workshops with industry professionals
  • September 12 – December 17, 2022

PHASE 3: Hackathon

  • Hands on application of skills and learning in Phase 1
  • December 16 – December 18, 2022

The full program is FREE for low income applicants who demonstrate financial need

Applicants who do not meet low income criteria may be awarded partial scholarships, and will be charged remaining tuition on a sliding scale based on household income.

Additionally participants will receive:

  • WiFi ALLOWANCE -> Low income students will receive a WiFi allowance for the program 
  • VOLUNTEER HOURS will be provided upon request
  • PRIZES opportunity to win cash and other prizes at the Phase 3 Hackathon event.
