About hEr VOLUTION: 

hEr VOLUTION is the place to be if you want to inspire BIPOC girls and gender non-conforming youth to embrace a STEM career. Based in Ontario, Canada, hEr VOLUTION is the go-to place for youth, particularly youth from underserved communities, to advance in 21st Century Skills. 

We exist to create opportunities for the next generation of women and gender non-conforming individuals in STEM, connecting them with industry leaders for career support. We listen to the community’s needs and the STEM industry to better help the next generation of underserved youth, with a focus on young women entering STEM careers.

We are seeking a committed individual to serve as our Treasurer, playing a pivotal role in the financial management and strategic planning of our organization. The Treasurer will work closely with the Founder to identify future planning and goals, collaborate with the Finance Committee and Bookkeeper for reporting purposes, and engage with the Board to support hEr VOLUTION’s growth and sustainability.

While this is a volunteer role, we are seeking an individual who is passionate about reaching our organizational goals and is committed to serving hEr VOLUTION as Treasurer of the Board.

What We Expect

  • Must serve a minimum of one (3) years.
  • The time commitment will generally be up to one (1) hour per meeting, plus extra time for work as needed to complete tasks
  • The Treasurer has the authority to call unscheduled meetings with the Finance Committee members, if necessary, to handle emergency situations if, or as they arise.
  • Ability to use Netsuite (training will be provided) and Wave Accounting for Payroll.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and Slack is required.

Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Planning: Collaborate with the Founder to develop long-term financial plans and goals that align with the organization’s mission and objectives.
  2. Budgeting and Forecasting: Work with the Finance Committee to develop annual budgets and financial forecasts, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and resource allocation.
  3. Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports, working closely with the Bookkeeper to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
  4. Financial Analysis: Provide financial analysis and insights to the Board and executive team, supporting informed decision-making and strategic initiatives.
  5. Cash Flow Management: Monitor cash flow and liquidity needs, recommending strategies to optimize cash reserves and manage financial risks.
  6. Investment Oversight: Work with the Finance Committee to develop investment policies and strategies, ensuring prudent stewardship of organizational assets.
  7. Risk Management: Identify and assess financial risks facing the organization, implementing controls and mitigation strategies to safeguard financial resources.
  8. Audit and Compliance: Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements and statutory obligations, as needed.
  9. Fundraising Support: Collaborate with the Fundraising Committee and Board to support fundraising efforts and donor relations, providing financial information and analysis as needed.
  10. Board Engagement: Engage with the Board to provide regular updates on financial performance, risks, and opportunities, contributing to discussions on organizational strategy and growth.
