hEr VOLUTION is the place to be if you want to inspire girls and gender non-conforming youth to embrace a STEM career. Based in Ontario, Canada, hEr VOLUTION is the go-to place for youth, particularly youth from underserved communities, to advance in 21st Century Skills. 

We exist to create opportunities for the next generation of women and gender non-conforming individuals in STEM, connecting them with industry leaders for career support. We listen to the community’s needs and the STEM industry to better help the next generation of underserved youth, with a focus on young women entering STEM careers.

We are inviting passionate individuals who want to make a difference in the lives of our participants to consider joining our Fundraising Committee.

While this is a volunteer role, we are seeking an individual who is passionate about reaching fundraising goals and is committed to serving hEr VOLUTION as Committee Member.

Purpose
The purpose of the Fundraising Committee is to develop new, and nurture existing partnerships with companies to fund our charity. 


Duties and Responsibilities of Committee Members:

  • Become familiar with the mission statement, guiding principles, and core values at hEr VOLUTION.
  • Attend at least 75% of committee meetings.
  • Come to the meetings prepared.
  • Carry out tasks outside of the meetings assigned by the committee.

Goals:

  • To raise funds to meet the financial needs of hEr VOLUTION.
  • To set attainable goals to be raised through corporate sponsor or partners on an annual (and projected 3 year) basis. Create an implementation plan to meet said goals.

What makes you a great fit:
A good cross-section of volunteers and staff with appropriate skills and expertise, including but not limited to:

  • promotion,
  • fundraising,
  • networking, and
  • process development

Responsibilities:

  1. Actively solicit sponsorship of corporate partners and / or regular donors, according to hEr VOLUTION’s policies, guideline, and best practices
  2. Develop fundraising policies, guidelines, and best practices, including appropriate levels of support and ‘asking’ targets.
  3. Develop the necessary tools for the presentation to potential partners. (i.e., sponsorship packages or proposals
  4. Support staff in the development and implementation of a recognition plan for donors, sponsors, foundations, and partners.
  5. Working with the staff and through the Chairperson, monitor the activity and performance of the plan, including recommendations to modify the plan.

Like all volunteers with hEr VOLUTION, it is expected that you will:

  • stay informed about organizational matters, prepare for meetings, and review and comment on minutes and reports.
  • ​​​​​​​develop relationships with other hEr VOLUTION members and build a collegial working relationship that contributes to consensus.
  • actively participate in the committee’s annual evaluation and planning efforts, and
  • participate in fundraising for the organization.


Time Commitment:

  • All members must serve a minimum of one year.
  • The time commitment for a committee member will generally be up to one hour per committee meeting, plus extra time for work as assigned by the committee.
  • The Committee Chair has the authority to call unscheduled meetings, if necessary, to handle emergency situations if, or as they arise.

This is an excellent volunteer opportunity to help shape the direction of hEr VOLUTION and contribute your skills and expertise to an exciting charitable organization engaged in creating opportunities for the next generation of women in STEM. You will be an integral part of ensuring the foundation that hEr VOLUTION is built upon, is supportive and stable while providing you valuable experience in the non-profit sector or in the STEM fields and the opportunity to develop an experience related to sales, fundraising and networking.
