Wow, we can’t believe another month is about to be over soon and we are so close to our #CanWomenSTEM150 conference date.

150 Days of Canadian Women in STEM: Week 27 Wrap Up

What a remarkable week this has been. In partnership with Salesforce, we ran our third annual GO! STEM Summer Camp. There were 30 young women who attended the camp to learn how to code. We are looking forward to impacting as many young women in STEM as we can. Most of the young women were happy to see that besides tech jobs there were other job opportunities too.

We were humbled and touched when one of the participants wrote to us saying:  “Thank you for giving me your time and making sure we liked everything and making this program inspiring.”

Canadian Women in STEM conference is being held to encourage and expose young girls/women take STEM related careers. A lot of them aren’t aware of what engineers do or just shy away from mathematics. We think there is a lack of interest because of a scarcity of mentors. Highlighting female role models in STEM careers will help combat stereotypical attitudes which women encounter in their daily lives.

This week was special to us. Why? Because we completed six months since we started our #CanWomenSTEM150 campaign. We were elated to see many Canadian women excelling in the field of #STEM.

Our followers/Women in STEM were a great support and we thanked whoever is a part and is participating in our conference. As we are nearing the end of July, let’s take a quick look at the last week’s #CanWomenSTEM150 social media campaign. As our generation moves into the future, more professionals will be needed to occupy STEM-related positions. So, we need to encourage the best and the brightest talent to enter into STEM related careers.

This week we were thrilled to be a part of the #PossibilityCamp  at @telus to teach young women how to pitch.  These young women were stem field eager to learn and we were amazed to see the prototype #app they created with just paper and colored markers.
