hEr VOLUTION PRESENTS 150 DAYS OF CANADIAN WOMEN IN STEM
To celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday, hEr VOLUTION focuses on celebrating
Canadian Women in STEM
150 Days of Canadian Women in STEM is the first-of-its-kind initiative focusing on celebrating Canadian Women in STEM, via Social Media. We will commit to bringing awareness to the achievements accomplished by the “hidden figures” in the science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields in Canada.
The initiative begins on February 14th, 2017 during Black History Month, and we will commit to featuring only black Canadian Women in STEM during this time. We will continue to feature diverse Canadian Women in STEM for the remaining of 150 days to ensure that we capture Canadian talent that deserves recognition.
hEr VOLUTION is a nonprofit organization focusing on getting more girls and young women interested in STEM fields. Although rewarding, it has been challenging to come up with role models for the young women who must choose an education in STEM fields that they might prefer or an education in a traditional role that is more socially accepted and more easily accessed. “Now is the time to make it known that women have contributed a great deal to STEM fields in Canada, and, most importantly, that young women are ready to learn about these women and see them as role models” says Doina Oncel, Founder of hEr VOLUTION.
About hEr VOLUTION
Since 2013, hEr VOLUTION has been one of the only organizations in Canada to promote innovative STEM learning for vulnerable and at-risk female youth, in addition to promoting the STEM fields for all females.
